You may think the worst thing about the Hoarders TV show is seeing feces (both animal and human) piled high throughout someones' home. Perhaps even millions of cockroaches running around or hundreds of rats scurrying about. But, in the case of Shannon on episode 5 of season 9, the most terrifying thing about her house is the hoard of demons! At least that's what Shannon believes. Shannon is so adamant about evil spirits taking up residence in her home, she fled the house with her three children and went to a homeless shelter.
The show's psychologist, Dr. Zasio, arrives to find the words ''Jehovah'' and ''Yeshua'' scrawled across the front door in blood red paint. She is visibly shocked as she ventures into the hoard to find lines of salt on the floors and along the windows. Shannon explains that the words and salt will prevent more demons from entering her house. As disturbing as all of this appears to be, the psychologist then finds out things get worse. Apparently, Shannon talks to the skull of a dead cat, brings it gifts and also saves the dirt and dust from her vacuum. Instead of recommending that Shannon see a psychiatrist for an evaluation, Dr. Zasio plays along and they proceed to have a funeral for the cat skull.
The show concludes with Shannon calling in a Wizard to perform an exorcism of her home to banish the demons. Wizard Art, whom also refers to himself as a Sorcerer, begins the exorcism by playing the flute to agitate the demons and evil spirits. Unfortunately, his lack of musical prowess may have also agitated the viewers as well. Wizard Art moves from room to room blowing his sage cigarette smoke through a wooden tube. At the end of this exorcism, the Wizard announces that all the demons and evil spirits are gone. Now Shannon can use that salt for her mashed potatoes instead of interior decorating.
