The Flat Earth Movement is Real!

                              


Do people really think the Earth is flat? Not only do average citizens strongly believe it's flat, so do many celebrities and professional athletes. Most Flat Earthers belong to the Flat Earth Society which has grown in membership by approximately 200 people per year since 2009. Strangely enough, most of the membership is comprised of Americans and Britons. 

The real question isn't 'if' they believe it's flat but 'why' do they believe it. In this day and age, we have satellite images and images from the International Space Station, among other sources. However, these 'Flat Earthers' choose to dismiss all reasonable evidence that it is spherical. Their argument being that the evidence, images, and agencies such as NASA are all part of the largest conspiracy in history carried out by multiple governments. Aside from this massive conspiracy, the Flat Earthers, not surprisingly, also use the Bible and religion to answer the 'why' question. 

The Flat Earth Theory claims the world is actually disc shaped with an ice wall around the perimeter which stands 150 feet tall. How do they know? If they've seen this wall of ice, where are the photos or video to prove it? Why is it only 150 feet? Why not 151 feet tall? They, of course, have no answer to these questions. They claim that NASA employees guard the ice wall, not to prevent people from seeing it but to prevent people from climbing over it and falling into space. Wait, hold up, that doesn't make sense if the conspiracy is to stop people from knowing it's flat. Why would they care if people climbed over? Wouldn't that be a plus since those witnesses couldn't tell the rest of the world?

Flat Earthers also do not believe in gravity and think it's part of this grand conspiracy. More facets of the conspiracy theory are that GPS units are rigged to trick pilots into thinking they are flying in a straight line rather than in circles, that there is an invisible ''anti-moon,'' and that there are no ''real'' trees in forests.  

A few Flat Earther celebrities and pseudo-celebrities are rapper B.o.B., Tila Tequila, Sherri Shepherd, professional basketball player Kyrie Irving, and NBA player Draymond Green who, while defending Irving, stated that it may be flat. The latest to jump on the wagon is former NBA player Shaquille O'Neal. I imagine more celebrities believe this conspiracy since many have been vocal advocates of several other conspiracy theories. Perhaps they will start coming forward soon.

Woman Claims to Be an Alien Hybrid!

Terrifyingly Creepy Museum Relics!

Museums, and fans alike, are using the hashtag #Museum101 on Twitter to share creepy and sometimes terrifying exhibits from their collections.  

This disturbing doll has no eyes and resides in the Derby Museums Charitable Trust. Dolls are creepy enough but maimed dolls are something we all could probably do without. 

You probably don't want to spend too much time staring at this jar of moles. That would be the animal, not those bumps on your body. Although, I wouldn't want to stare at a jar of those either. If you want a closer look, head over to the Grant Museum.

I have no doubt this prehistoric fish will give some people nightmares. The sharp-toothed critter is older than dinosaurs and is also a good reason to avoid large bodies of water. 

The Eastman Museum contains a photo from 1880 of a man who appears to have the ability to turn his head nearly all the way around. He could be double jointed or possessed by a demon, your guess is as good as mine!

Here are some masks from Greenland which look like whoever made them may have been on some type of hallucinogenic substance. A little too spooky to hang in the kids' bedroom.

English Heritage Walmer Castle is the home to the Duke of Wellington death mask! A death mask is definitely gruesome but becomes even creepier when you realize that's a grin on his face.

This sinister looking woman looks strangely as if she were from modern times after getting a lot of bad cosmetic surgery done on her face. The Otter Tail Museum keeps her hidden within the archives, and I don't blame them.

Queer Ghost Hunters!

If you're tired of the same old ghost hunting shows on television starring overly religious straight people, you should tune into the LGBT version on the Internet called Queer Ghost Hunting. It features real people, real ghosts and it's really gay. These paranormal ghost hunters are based out of Ohio. They are the Stonewall Columbus Queer Ghosthunters. It would probably help if they shortened their name, it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. The members are Scott Priddy, Katy Detrow, Lori Gum, Liam Gallagher, Kai Stone and Shane McClelland. 

The web series is quirky and a bit cheesy, but entertaining none the less. Unfortunately, the voice over announcer, a male with a Brittish(?) accent, is rather annoying and seems out of place. However, if you can get past that oddity you may find the informative history side of the show to be quite interesting. Some of the team's adventures include traveling to a former convent to chat with lesbian nuns, contacting the ghosts of young gay prisoners incarcerated for sodomy in the 1900s and visiting with the spirits of gay patients in asylums that were placed there due to their sexual preference. Perhaps this docuseries will open the eyes of television Networks and we'll get new and inclusive paranormal TV shows in the near future.

The CIAs ESP Planetary Scouting!

The CIA recently released declassified documents about UFOs, Aliens and more. One interesting topic was the use of clairvoyants to scout planetary life, not only in the present time but also in the past prehistoric time. Oklahoma - Guthrie

Madame Lizzy owned the historic Blue Belle Saloon, on West Harrison Ave, back in the day. Two of her girls, Claudia and Estelle, helped run the place. One piece of the brutal history of the saloon was when  Claudia was beaten to death. It's even spookier that they allegedly buried her under the saloon itself. Soon after Claudia's death, Miss Lizzy and Estelle died under mysterious circumstances. Paranormal activity seems to be an everyday occurrence at this location. Apparitions of both women and men are seen, disembodied voices and crying heard, and loud noises and thumps reported. It's believed that under the saloon is the entrance to tunnels that run throughout Guthrie.  

Maryland - Kingsville

The legend of the Jericho Covered Bridge, constructed in 1865, is well-known throughout the state. Apparitions of bodies hanging from the trusses. It's believed that those apparitions are of slaves that were lynched. Paranormal witnesses report their cars stalling as soon as they enter the bridge and not being able to start them for several minutes. Ghostly hand prints appear on the outside of cars. The apparition of a young woman with a burned face has also been reported. What's creepier is the sightings of weird creatures near the bridge. Some people think they are protecting it. Virginia - Virgina Beach

The Ferry Plantation may very well be the most haunted location in Virgina. It's believed to be home to at least 11 spirits including a slave named Henry looking for vengeance, The Lady In White who allegedly fell down a flight of stairs and broke her neck, the victims of an 1810 shipwreck, and accused witch Grace White Sherwood. Grace's body is rumored to be buried on the plantation under a tree. Visitors have witnessed apparitions among a plethora of other paranormal activity.

New Mexico - NorthEast / Philmont Scout Ranch

Urraca Mesa is the Hell Mouth! That's right, not only will you find paranormal activity but it's claimed that you will also find the gateway to the demon realm. Compasses don't work properly here. This area has the highest rate of lightning strikes in the state. The word Urraca, in the Anasazi and Apache language, means Magpie. The Magpie was thought to be omens of evil. Bayview Cemetery seems to be a lot spookier than most of the cemeteries in Washington. Apparitions are seen moving along the stone wall. Several monuments on the property have creepy legends attached to them. The monument called "Angel Eyes' is said to be the resting place to one of the apparitions that roam the cemetery. If you find the 'Death Bed' monument, you may not want to lay down on it. It's said that if you do, you will soon die!

Utah - Salt Lake City

The history of the Shilo Inn (now a Holiday Inn) includes a disturbing story about a man and his family. The man committed suicide by way of carbon-monoxide poisoning. But, before he did that, he convinced his wife to murder all of their children then commit suicide herself. After her husband died, she threw several of her children off of the balcony of the 11th floor. A few other children willingly jumped and she followed to her death. Her apparition, as well as a child apparition, has been seen often. Disembodied laughter is heard on the first floor and a pinball machine turns on and plays on its own. A Cheetos corn snack resembling Harambe the Gorilla just sold on eBay for $99,900. The listing attracted 132 bids before closing at 3:45 a.m. on Feb. 7. The item was sold from Burbank, California, and even came with free standard shipping, according to the eBay listing. The seller, "valuestampsinc," listed the item as "Gorilla Hot Cheetos – RARE – One of a Kind Cheetos – Harambe Gorilla," juxtaposing it with a side photo of the gorilla. Arkansas - Cave City

The area named Witches Hollow is said to be a paranormal hot spot. It was named after an alleged witch who is believed to have practiced black magic here and also murdered her husband. Texas - Amarillo

There are several myths surrounding Cadillac Ranch, near Amarillo off of Route 66, and how it came to be. Some say an eccentric millionaire would bury his old Cadillacs each time he bought a new one. Others believe it was just a giant artistic endeavor. But, one thing most agree on is, the ranch has an abundance of paranormal activity. Maine - York

The Old York Cemetery is home to Mary Nasson. Mary was accused of being a witch and was executed in 1774. Her grave is known in local folklore as the ''witches grave.'' Over her grave site lies a heavy stone slab which is said to have been placed there to prevent her from escaping her grave. Visitors claim the stone slab is always warm to the touch. Vermont - Waterbury

The historic Inn called The Old Stagecoach Inn is thought to be haunted by many spirits including its former resident. His apparition, among others, is seen roaming the halls and rooms. Housekeepers report strange paranormal activity such as the beds being stripped down when they turn their backs. Other paranormal witnesses say the furniture moves by itself. Room number 2 is said to be the most haunted room of the Inn.

Oregon - Cave Junction

Oregon Caves Chateau is a rustic hotel which was built in 1934 with a creek below that actually flows through the building. Supposedly, in the 1930's, a woman had an argument with her cheating husband and he pushed her out of the window to her death. It's believed that her ghost haunts the building and her room, number 310. Visitors report paranormal disembodied cries and moans as well as dresser drawers opening and closing by themselves. Employees working in the kitchen have had objects fall onto their heads, especially when speaking about the haunting. Other paranormal occurrences are of footsteps and stomping coming from empty rooms and, of course, the infamous room 310.

Pennsylvania - New Hope 

Pennsylvania has many haunted locations but the Van Sant Covered Bridge (AKA Beaver Dam Bridge) is thought to be the most haunted with a myriad of paranormal activity. The ''Crybaby Bridge'', as some call it, sits within the back roads of Bucks County. People use that nickname because of a legend about a woman that threw her crying baby over the side of the bridge. Other urban legends claim she drowned the baby and that a man murdered a woman and her crying baby at the location. In any case, disembodied cries and screams are heard as you drive through. Apparitions are witnessed including one hanging from a noose.
