The John Titor 'Internet Time-Traveler' Mystery Continues!
A conspiracy theory has come to light seeking to prove the internet phenomenon John Titor was not only real but may have been controlling WWE wrestling for years. Titor was an internet sensation in the early noughties who claimed to be a genuine time-traveler from the year 2,036. He appeared on an online forum 16 years ago claiming to be a future soldier, warning us about a future of nuclear war and corrupt governments. But new claims suggest he was not so kind-hearted, after all.
Although Titor vanished from the surface of the web in 2001, a sensational claim posted online earlier this month believes he was, and still could be, controlling wrestling promotional company Chikara. A post online sought to prove Titor was actually the man behind parent company Titor Conglomerate. The theory states: “Titor Conglomerate owned Condor Security and, at one point, owned Chikara. “Titor was wrapped up in a whole lot of shady stuff. He then closed down Chikara entirely leading to the hiatus between 2013 and 2014. So this may be one reason Titor wanted to buy or control Chikara in the first place – time travelers, who inevitably draw the attention of time travelers.”
Weirder still, there was also an ongoing storyline narrative produced by Chikara. One wrestler – Archibald Peck – apparently got punched so hard it sent him back in time. He then became well known for his fight plots surrounding time-travel. Conspiracy theorists have tried to link the two together, suggesting John Titor may have been personifying himself through the character all along.
During his online fame, Titor claimed he was a member of a military unit living in the future in Florida, on his way back to the year 1975 and making a stopover in 2000 for “personal reasons”. He told stunned internet users: “My goal is not to be believed. Perhaps I should let you all in on a little secret – no one likes you in the future. This time period is looked at as being full of lazy, self-centered, civically ignorant sheep. Perhaps you should be less concerned about me and more concerned about that.”
During his internet reign, he did, in fact, get a number of predictions correct. One theory, in particular, surrounded the deception of weapons of mass destruction before the Iraq War in 2003. He said: “None of the things I have said will be a surprise. "They were set in motion ten, twenty, even thirty years ago. Are you really surprised to find out that Iraq has nukes now or is that just bulls*** to whip everyone up into accepting the next war?” And in 2001 he made another correct forecast surrounding a secret function on the IBM 5100 computer, which was coincidently revealed three years later by the tech giants.
Not all of his promises came to pass, though. He warned of civil war in America in 2004, and that a mad cow disease would cancel the Olympics – neither of which happened. Despite the failed predictions, conspiracy theorists claim that he stopped these events by simply warning us about them. Titor wrote that by being in the past, he was creating a different timeline and certain things about his reality and ours were different. He said: “News events that happen at different times, football games won by other teams, things like that.”
